Tinned copper wire production process

time:2025-08-29 click:

Tinned copper wire is a commonly used material for electrical cables, offering excellent electrical conductivity and corrosion resistance. The production process for tinned copper wire primarily involves material preparation, wire drawing, tin plating, and finishing. The following details the production process.

First, material preparation. Tinned copper wire requires copper wire and tin solution. The copper wire, typically pure copper, is cut into appropriate lengths as the raw material. Tin solution is the primary plating solution for tinned copper wire, with polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) being the most common tin solution.

Next comes the wire drawing process. The raw copper wire is drawn through a wire drawing machine, gradually reducing its cross-sectional area and increasing its strength. During the drawing process, the copper wire is lubricated to reduce extrusion resistance and surface friction. After drawing, the copper wire undergoes a quenching treatment to dissipate residual strain energy within the material and increase its hardness and elasticity.

Next, the tinning process begins. The drawn copper wire is immersed in tin solution for tinning. During the tinning process, parameters such as the concentration, temperature, and time of the plating solution must be controlled to ensure the quality of the tinning on the copper wire. After tinning, the copper wire needs to be cleaned to remove any residual tin on the surface.

Finally, the finishing process occurs. The tinned copper wire undergoes finishing to shape and package it. During the finishing process, the copper wire is straightened and cut to the specified size and length. The finished tinned copper wire is packaged for easy transportation and storage.

In summary, the production process of tinned copper wire includes material preparation, wire making, tinning, and finishing. Through these processes, high-quality tinned copper wire products can be produced to meet the application needs of various fields.
